Selecting Flower Varieties For Your Garden

Complementing and trying out different arrangements of flowers for your garden is a tedious task if you are new at it. These are some good tips to consider if you're new to gardening and rose planting.

Try combining white floribundas, shrub and ground-cover roses flower to usa with silver- or white- leaved perennials to achieve a pastel white effect. Examples of these include Nana flowers, and pearl everlasting flowers. Or to create a contrast with the roses, use blue-flowered Linton, blue geraniums such as 'Johnson's Blue'. 'Adria' hybrids and the blue-violet Veronica are also good. If you have enough space, grow cat-mint. This clump-forming plant grows to a height of around 12 in (30 cm), tolerates dry conditions and goes particularly well with white hybrid teas.

Cool blue perennials can be used to tone down the warm pinks and reds of the roses. Apart from Veronica flowers and cat-mint, the blue geraniums (which also go well with white roses), are great companion plants for pink and red roses. They should be grown in small quantities to provide a splash of color; otherwise they'll simply overwhelm the roses. Lavender is a plant that has traditionally been used as an accompaniment to roses. Apart from its attractive deliver flowers usa and its strong fragrance, it can also help to repel pests such as aphids and ants. Other blue- flowered plants suitable as companions for roses include blue lilacs. Bear in mind that very dark red roses don't make a very good match for blue-flowered perennials: use yellow or white varieties instead.
